Sesamoid bone of the medial collateral ligament of the knee joint

ABSTRACT The variable occurrence of the sesamoid bones supports the theory stating that the development and evolution of these bones are controlled through the interaction between intrinsic genetic factors and extrinsic stimuli. In the present article we report a sesamoid bone at the medial collateral ligament of the knee joint, a newly discovered finding in human and veterinary medicine.
