With this biography of Prof. Pedro Mestres Ventura, we inaugurate a new section of the European Journal of Anatomy, which we might title the Gallery of Distinguished Anatomists.
Professor Mestres possesses two qualities that make him worthy of inclusion. First, he has consistently supported the journal since its foundation —through peer reviews, published articles, and administrative efforts. Second, he is a researcher who stands as a global reference in the field of Anatomy, particularly through his work in electron microscopy throughout his career —a career marked by success and primarily carried out in his beloved Germany, with research stays in the United Kingdom and the United States.
We hope this new section will serve as an inspiration for the development of our professional and, indeed, personal lives.
