The anatomy of the clavicle remains a subject of research in fields such as anthropology, archaeology, orthopedic surgery, forensic medicine, and anatomy. Anatomical variations of the clavicle are common and can be clinically significant (e.g., leading to diagnostic confusion). During revision of the osteological collection of the Institute of Anatomy Mainz, we observed a variation of a left macerated dry human clavicle. Here, we describe the presence of a bony process at the ventral margin of the extremitas acromialis claviculae. The bony process was hook-shaped and bore an articular surface on the tip. Further studies are needed to clarify the prevalence and clinical significance of this variation.
