The acromion process of the scapula is one of the three processes of the scapula and is considered to be an important landmark. The majority of patients presenting with shoulder pain in the orthopedic outdoor patient department are diagnosed with subacromial impingement syndrome. Studying the morphology and morphometry of the acromion process in clinically diagnosed patients of subacromial impingement can be helpful for determining the cause of impingement and choosing treatment modality. 60 clinically diagnosed patients were taken from the Department of Orthopedics, Sri Guru Ram Das Hospital, Sri Amritsar. The parameters observed were acromion shape, type, acromion slope, acromion tilt, acromion index and lateral acromial angle. Out of 60, 38 showed hooked (type III) acromion, 19 showed curved (type II) acromion, and 3 showed flat (type I) acromion. The average acromion slope was observed to be 35.51 and the p-value was significant (0.001). The mean acromion tilt was 32.10 and the p-value was significant (0.002). The mean acromion index was calculated as 83.84 with a significant p-value (0.001). The mean lateral acromion angle was 83.87 and the p-value was significant (0.001).
