During a routine dissection of the abdomen, a variant within the rectus abdominis in a female cadaver was seen. There are known variants of the rectus abdominis, though not fully understood, such as the development of tendinous intersections that are present between the rectus abdominis muscle bellies. Based on literature reviews, there are limited articles that describe having a bilateral absence of tendinous intersections. However, similar research included classifications of shape, number of pairs, and whether the intersections were complete or incomplete. Based on this discovery, the presence of an anatomical variant will not only be relevant for surgical residents but also alternative health professionals.
